Signed. The BLM is wringing their blood stained hands just waiting to send the 50000 to 80000 wild horses they have stockpiled, they already sneak mustangs to slaughter in Mexico. This is such an injustice to horses, donkeys, mules and ponies.

horses - while not native to this continent - have become not only naturalized as functioning members of our ecology but as icons of beauty and freedom. the only ones with any business eating them are the natural predators also so imperilled in present times.

The above was a test as I have not been able to comment for a while. Such beautiful and peaceful animals and they are slaughtered. I do not understand at all what gives people the idea that they have the right to decide which species live and which ones die. How self centered (humancentricI call it) it is and it seems that they have deemed that they are God. Being an atheist I also do not get how many of them are god fearing people who think God created the Earth and the animals yet feel no compunction to care for either but have made themselves rulers of all. Give me horses over people any day. They don't rape, kill, start wars, pollute, and the list goes on.

I can't even think they would allow this terrible slaughter of horses. This country couldn't have been built without the aid of horses.

Signed. We humans gain far more that is priceless and transformational by caring for, learning from and living in harmony with animals than by what is achieved from hurting, killing and commoditizing them. Animals in partnership with humans enrich our lives beyond gold, they teach us to be better humans and help heal us when we're broken.

Signed. We need to make those who breed horses to be responsible for all the horses they produce. To them horses are a business and not a life that feels pain and joy and deserves to live. Are you listening Mrs. Romney? How many horses had to die for you to get that one show horse? I read over 75% of the colts breed for racing are slaughtered because they didn't make the grade. Stop horse racing, and showing horses. Stop steep jumping and all entertainment that exploits horses.
