Chief Saunooke's Bear Park, located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina has indeed violated munerous acts. I have been on a board for years trying to get this "so called" bear park shut down. Not only have they violated state laws but many native laws as well. Bears are considered scared in my culture such as the wolf and to go against them is going against native beliefs and cultures. I hang my head with much shame .

"Chief Saunooke’s Bear Park, located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina, has been charged with being in violation of the Animal Welfare Act. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, this bear-exclusive zoo has been cited with dozens of violations of the Animal Welfare Act, including a failure to maintain an appropriate barrier between the bears and park visitors, which has resulted in multiple injuries to several persons.
The Bear Park is not only guilty of causing harm to its guests but also to the animals whose care they are directly responsible for. The park has been cited multiple times with not providing adequate, nutritional food for the animals and also failing to maintain a clean, sanitary enclosure for the bears. This bear zoo has long been a target of activist groups such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and has been well known as an offender against animal rights."
