Our appetite for paper products is insatiable. All the facial tissues, napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, computer paper, bank statements and other disposable items we use in day-to-day life really add up.

Somewhere I read (possibly here), that the paper receipts from ATM machines alone can in a week circle the globe.

We should decrease paper consuption and reduce cutting of trees, as they provide oxygen and beauty in the nature!

very interesting article, thanks for sharing....... a subject very close to my heart, anything that involves trees....
I think packaging still has a long way to go, anybody with a "green" and sustainable solution will be a billionaire in a couple of hours...

I always use fabric handkerchiefs, and cloths rather than paper whenever possible.

I do purchasing for my accounting firm and I can tell you that I have bought more paper this year than any other in the last five. What has happened to paperless audits? Growing hemp could replace paper produced from trees. Hemp is a high yield crop that requires little water unlike cotton; is environmentally friendly in that it requires no insecticides and little fertilizer. Prior to 1937 we used to make 5,000 quality products out of hemp from papers to clothing etc. Without trees the planet doesn't breathe properly and neither will we.
