Yeah, this could be serious for us in the UK.

Denmark lost 90% of its ash trees to this disease and a third of our trees are ash. And it can happen. We lost something like this many trees to Dutch Elm Disease in the 60's.

It's very concerning.

Sudden Oak Death is a severe problem in California as well.

Roger: Elm trees were the major constituent of traditional dwellings in the Eastern part of North America

The Emerald Ash Borer severely threatens the Ash trees of numerous species in the US and Canada

From Poland, Sweden and the Baltic states we see that this fungus has a history of devastation there. Some trees were resistant, and in some areas Ash is making a comeback now resistant.

England seems to have gotten the disease due to imports of nursery trees. (that's a loaded subject, as most of the really deadly diseases can be traced to such sources. Fungi killing avocado trees and Port Orford Cedars - pretty much 100% death when infected) are tragic instances)

I was just reading about the ash trees that weathered the fungus and are now thriving in other countries Michael. Perhaps we should look at what makes those trees resistant. Long before we were ever around the cycle of life happened to the dinosaurs as it has happened to countless species since; including other hominids. Those that adapted survived, evolved and thrived. I think it could be the same here. It will be the same with humanity unless it changes it's behavioral patterns.
