The Canadian Government has recently passed a bill that will affect all future protests in Canada. The Canadian House of Commons recently passed Bill C-309, officially banning protestors from hiding behind masks during violent riots.

Some law enforcement is already abusive and doesn't need any more tools, since they already hold them all. I see far more of that in the United States than I see of the reverse. I am very concerned about this.

Well, i am all for protesting for your beliefs....but protests that harm others and property of others? That's not how you get your message across. If you want people to listen stop burning, looting and attacking...that just makes people less likely to listen.

As activists we don't have a problem showing who we are, we should all stand up and be counted. Just the cowardly rent a mob have an axe to grind and this should limit what they get up to. However it is time the police actions are called in to question they often behave like bullying thugs.

If you are a true activist you would not want to hide your face, the people who wear masks usually have no real interest in what the are protesting, they justt want to cause trouble. Thanks Cher

I agree with Joanne Dixon. Not to mention the FBI takes photos of protesters even when they are non violent, I have seen this. Also look at all the violent acts by police, from Calif to NY this past year, this bill I understand their reasoning, but has huge potential for abuse of the law.

I fail to see an issue here. If the masked people are peaceful, there shouldn't be a problem. So WHAT if photo are taken? If no laws are being broken, shouldn't be a problem. Anytime you go out in public, you're subjecting yourself to being photographed. Anyone else ever see the photos in the "Walmartians" e-mails sent around? Do you honestly think everyone in those photos gave consent or even knew they were being photographed?
