Good, though I still think that really huge fines that last a lifetime are better punishment. People are far more interested in their income than paying a life time fine for cruelty.

As I don't know what this man's physical condition is that kept him out of jail, I'm glad the fine was substantial.
This is greater justice than most American states would have administered.

Noted with a sick heart. I am unable to comment at this time because I was raised to believe that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

Punishment in this case was entirely to light!

It is so difficult to believe that these types of things are happening. Just one case is one too many.

unbelievable! Why do we keep letting these people get away with so little when what they have done is
incredible horrible. (and costly). I look at our rescues and while their stories are not horrendous...someone didn't want them and we have three very happy and spoiled English setters!

Good news but that's not enough. I really feel sorry for the poor dogs. Poor, poor dogs. What they've had to suffer is simply horrible. How is that kind of thing possible.

I agree with most. 10 years is not enough. You know he hasn't learned his lesson and will be doing the same in 10 years if not sooner.

There is no excuse for what this man did,if he was sick he could have -paid someone to clean the cages and feed them, they should not have been in cages anyway ,just a miserable mean animal abuser -sorry he wasn't jailed it would have given him a taste of what he made the animals endure-living in a cage.

This is bullshit. If you break the law and are found guilty, you need to go to jail. They have hospitals in jail. What's the problem?

Now that Michael Vick has a dog, I really don't have faith that these animal abusers will ever be kept from perpetuating their horrors.

When are we going to get smart and start executing these psychopaths? Psychopaths abuse animals today and kill people tomorrow!

And the worst of it is, children observe all behaviors assocatied with cruelty and (lack of) punishment...we are breeding monsters through the dismissal of serious egregious cruelty charges imposed by the court system. HIdeous news today and a major problem tomorrow....aren't the courts supposed to set an example? This is not a morally sound one to emulate.

how about no dogs for life? Just 10 years? I agree with the poster that said there are hospitals in prison. There have been cases where prisoners are NOT released even having terminal cancer, are as old as Moses. This jerk doesn't even get to share a bunk with bubba.

Bet he's probably back in business already. There are no laws to REALLY protect animals.
Offenders get a tap on the wrist and are sent off to do it again and again.

He should never been allowed to have anything to do with animals. Just looking at those eyes could make me cry. Poor dogs. Hope they'll get good homes.

It is a shame that he didn't get any jail time. He shoud have to spend the rest of his life in a cage.
