Don't pet my cat like he's a Saint Bernard, and don't ask whether he knows any tricks. And no, he doesn't fetch.

Noted- thanks. And yes- unless you want to get bitten and/or scratched- cats do NOT appreciate roughhouse play! Most especially with bare hands... a toy of some sort may work better, if a cat is at all interested in playing.

Good advise and I like the photo's. What annoys me the most is the term 'cat lady'. What does that really mean? Are people telling me I'm crazy because I have a couple of cats? How many cats does it take before you become a 'cat lady'? Why are women the only ones who have this label? Why not men? How many dogs do you have to have before you become a 'dog lady or man' and why doesn't that have the same under cutting tone? What bothers me the most is women who call other women 'cat lady'. Aren't we suppose to be on the same side and help each other and not tear each other down?

I have long ago realized that cats sometimes look down at humans. Ever want to amuse a cat with a toy? Like an idiot, you are trying to encourage it to take it, run after it; do something! And all they do is look at you with a look that says "are you for real? Where is your dignity?" I swear my older cats can make me feel almost stupid.

I have had cats who fetched, but it was THEIR idea, not mine. I have also had drama queens (of both sexes). They are little individuals and not all the same (I know, I'm preaching to the choir LOL)

My greatest "pet peeve" with dog people is their utter lack of understanding of cats - in fact, a downright misunderstanding. I have met so many "dog people" who view cats as "wily", and claim that cats want to "tease" dogs. I have worked with both cats and dogs in shelters, and have witnessed the behavior of "cat people" and "dog people", not only in shelters, but more tellingly at mobile adoption sites (Petco, Petsmart). Cats are sensitive and emotional (like me) and suffer because of this and because of people's ignorance.

Jhn Wzt - Do you fetch like a dog? Cats are intelligent, independent thinkers.

In human terms, cats are progressive liberals. Dogs are conservatives.

And the one thing that dog people hate about cat people is having to listen to what awful things the cat has done in the past week.

I like both cats and dogs, but prefer my cats. I really get annoyed at "dog" people who do not realize that cats have their own unique personalities the same as dogs. I have had cats who met me at the door, high fived me, followed me all over the house, one who learned to walk on a leash. The thing I like best is that they do not put up with nonsense from anyone, including me.

I don't want to be annoyed.... I'm not annoyed, not with this anyhow. And I have a cat and a dog who live with me and we enjoy each other....... cats/dogs...men/women...night/day...yin/yang... what a beautiful world folks.

I think people who don't appreciate cats just don't 'get' them. I think they are marvelous creatures!

Cute! and somewhat true although my cats are more like dogs and that's could be because they have grown up with them? My cats do come when called and a few of them even like love spanks. I guess it's how you raise them.

Sorry, cats are not my thing. My neighbor has plenty of neglected cats, they dump their stinking shit all over my yard, piss everywere, that smells worse than a sewer and I also have to collect all the dead birds almost every day. Do I hate cats, yes. Are cat owners irresponsible, yes. Our new Rotti will sort them out soon enough. The cat visits are getting less and they realize that the Rotty can reach the top of the fence a lot quicker with his paws then they can climb it. What a sight, my Rotti hanging on to a cats tail on our side of the fence and the cat dangling upside down on the other side sqeeling. I called 'leave it' after about 30 seconds or so and he let go. No more cats here.
