Now?... there is a contradiction-

"There are several jean companies such as ReUse and Levi Strauss that are environmentally conscious in their jean production. By doing some research on jean company production before you buy your jeans, you will be helping out the environment in a small way."

Just yesterday, Greenpeace announce Levi's are toxic

Been wearing them most of my life,so are they evil or not?

Apparently they can also be toxic with chemicals that shouldn't be worn next to the skin!

If you really want to be conscious and responsible in your apparel or jeans then all these companies should switch to hemp. Cotton is one of the worst crops grown for water use; insecticides and fertilizers and for leaching nutrients out of the soil.
