Sorry but fantasy, wishing and hoping are not a solution. Rapid transit, more use of mass transportation, "share a ride", use of bicycles, any thing but continued dependence on one driver-one car will be a much better and more comprehensive idea. That learning to use less electricity, and stop feeding the OIL and GAS companies. We need better cleaner fuels, not just less Gas and Oil - NO Gas and Oil! People are sick and dying from the crap in our atmosphere, when are we all going to pay attention to the REAL in reality?

Money and profits are more important than health, unfortunately.

Isn't "burning" fuel of any kind going to continue to
ruin our atmosphere?

"Oil dependence" seems a funny term in a way. Somehow it is used to excuse fracking and other nasty stuff.

Curiosity got me here, though can't see how this is going to work? Agree with the other comments!

This won't solve anything and will still contribute to the destruction of our planet and global warming.

Aronoff and his ilk make me tired. This kind of propaganda is very distracting. There are very well thought out plans that (if implemented) would solve the energy problem in a relatively short period of time. I have been studying this for decades and can't believe it is still covered up and not reported or talked about.
The solution is Hydrogen. I know you have been fed BS that clouds this truly amazing story and will parrot the silly things you have read and seen about it but...
I urge you to spend a little time and research the topic.
Jeremy Rifkin's 2002 book “The Hydrogen Economy” it is an excellent source of the technology and sociology of how it would work.
I also urge you to look over the websites:
http://www.fchea.org/ and http://www.clean-air.org/
I cannot say enough good things about Roy McAlister of the Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy Association. He is one of the leading visionary/experts on hydrogen. He was one of the top scientists that helped NASA develop fuel cells for space flight. Roy's book “The Coming Hydrogen Civilization” is a bible (I have read it three times) for where we should be headed.
Let's all wake up and make it happen!

Aronoff must be dreaming, trying to support big oil for more government subsidies and benefits. Never trust big oil, they are lying all the way to their underground banks, barely paiyng taxes. Their end will come sooner than later.
