N&S. I'm so sick of people using animals for research. Use some of the employees instead.

Without the use of animals in research, the majority of medical advances would not have occurred, including vaccines for polio, rabies, diabetes, cancer, heart disease and epilepsy. Advances also have been made in surgical therapies and in the development of therapeutic drugs. Research leading to almost every Nobel Prize in Medicine awarded since 1901 has been dependent on data from animal models. Learn more >>

Results obtained from experiments using animals provide information critical to designing human trials that must be conducted before legal approval can be granted for new devices, drugs or procedures. Even the most sophisticated technology cannot mimic the complicated interactions among cells, tissues and organs in humans and animals.

The University of Kansas Medical Center follows the highest standards of care and treatment for research animals. These animals help us unlock the mysteries of disease deserve respect and the best possible care.

KUMC is fully accredited by the Association for the Assessment of Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care, International (AAALAC), which requires the adherence to the highest standards of animal care and use by accredited institutions

Can someone else send Christine a Green Star for her comments to Bill above?

are2 says that I can't yet and she needs to be rewarded for pointing out to Bill the obvious that he has apparently been blinded to as an employee of the KU Med Center.

What makes people think that humans are superior to animals so have a right to experiment on them to find human diseases. Man is so arrogant to think like this He thinks it is ok to be cruel to animals to help himself.Thats how selfish he is Better that some of the human race die off than have to use cruellty all the time to animals Humans are not exactly doing a lot of good for the planet and are only destroying it anyway Man is only an animal and actually he is the lowest of the low and does things to other humans and animals that the animal kingdom does not do.Animals are here to share this planet with us to They deserve care and respect as well, not cruelty How on earth did this University get away with just fines They should have been banned for causing so much suffering to so many creatures but that just shows how the powers to be only still think this is a minor crime
