I'm the first one to come to an animal's defense, but sometimes it's just more humane to put the animal down. I hope those who are trying to help make the right decision for the dog, whatever that decision is.

I agree with janet f, just because we can keep someone alive, doesn't always mean we should. I mean that poor puppy is in agony every time she goes to the bathroom and who knows if they will be able to help her when she gains that extra 14 lbs. So now she spends her days in pain for however long it takes for her to gain that weight and the vets could discover that they can do nothing for her and need to euthanize her. Is it really worth it ? I hope they can help her, sooner not later, no one deserves to be in pain every time they go to the bathroom. Good Luck Oakley.

What caused these horrible defects? Maybe we should be very worried.

Dogs are very resilient, but if the pup has a future full of pain and suffering, it is more cruel to keep it alive - if there is absolutely no chance of a full and pain free recovery, then a merciful death is far kinder.

I hope that something can be done for Oakley when and if she lives to gain weight.
