While the United States still legally condones animal trials, the Israeli government has decided to take a stand against the practice. In 2005, the Knesset, Israel's legislature, officially banned animal trials in the country.

Steve

I get what you say about make-up and veils. I think it is sad when young women wear lots of make up false lashes, hair extensions but that is a world away from what some women feel more comfortable with. I live on the edge of a big urban multi cultural city where there is a bit of everything from lots of different parts of the world. The 'youth' culture, must have whiter teeth, all perfectly straightened teeth: this is invasive and is the opposite to wearing a bit of moisturiser and mascara. I was seriously ill last year and hated the effects of illness on my appearance. A bit of make up did not make the bad things or the pain go away, but it helped me come to terms and adjust to my situation.

I can't escape the impact of the world around me but I honestly believe that my decision to wear make up is my choice. It is a crutch at times, fun at others.

I am also interested in 'more important' things than make up or not. Some of the work I have been involved with means that I don't always want to discuss or even think about the things that need the most attention.

What are you most concerned about?

Jane
