Aww...so glad that Maverick was found, and is now healthy, after his operation. Looks like he has a loving family to take care of him. ;-)

Made me cry. One should always check on animals spotted along the road. So many die from injuries and exposure, all alone, in pain, and afraid. Always be the Good Samaritan and not part of the world that passes by.

When I was a teenager, we had an Irish Setter who ran out of the yard to chase a rabbit. He ran to the intersection where he was hit by a car - the car left the scene.
That dog, limped back home, with his chest and part of his stomach wide open; his intestines were nearly dragging on the ground. Collapsing on the lawn, my father had the presence of mind to wrap him up in a towel -literally pushing his intestines back into his body.
My father placed her in the car, at the same time yelling "call Newman". He was our vet. Long story short,, this vet worked on that dog for over three hours. Shannon had nearly 400 stitches from her chest, down her stomach. She was unable to stand up because of the stitches, nor were able to visit her because the vet was concerned of her getting too excited, and may pop her stitches.
She was in the hospital for nearly a month, and lived a good long life.

I am glad to hear that this dog survived his terrible ordeal. It is not clear if he got out by mistake or was allowed to roam in his neighborhood. Please do not let dogs roam on their own. They cannot protect themselves at all. Dogs need to be part of the family and treated as you would treat a toddler when you are out and about. Never let them wander.

I wish whoever ran over Maverick had had the good sense to call for help; if they had, Maverick might still have his hind leg. But, I can tell from his gorgeous golden eyes that he's able to adjust to anything! Thnx Cher!

Poor Mav. I'm glad he was found and brought back to health. Hope he will be supervised now. We had a kitty escape the yard and go missing for a week and thought the worst had happened. Eight days later she returned unharmed and we can only assume she got locked in someone's shed for the time. Nonetheless, it is horrible to have a beloved pet go missing.

I was almost reticent to read the article; the title led me to believe that he survived (only) two weeks and I wasn't sure I was up for that in my morning read. I was delighted to read the full story and see the video. Go, doggies!
