My dad ended my dream of taking home Fiona the Weimaraner. But I kept thinking about the shelter.

Such a beautiful story. The Lord has called her to be His angel, and she responded with a willing heart. I truly do hope she gets a loving companion of her very own. But this I do believe, in Heaven she will have more friends than she can throw a stick for. All those shelter dogs will always remember this beautiful young lady. God bless her.

that's what I thought about doing too, since I can't have a pet here where I live.

Never buy, always adopt.
If you can't adopt, foster or volounteer.
Do something for homeless pets!

What an inspiring beautiful idea - share love and kindness whenever possible.

It's a good story. =) I really like volunteering and I have done day-long stints helping at animal shelters. Nowadays, since i'm transportationally impaired, I can't in good conscience sign up for anything with a regular schedule or big time committment apart from the job i have, hate, and desperately need. But thanks for reminding us about this. It's a good cause.

I became a volunteer because I too could afford the time for a dog. Three years later, I am one of the directors of the shelter, and I own three cats. It was meant to be.

I don't understand why people buy an animal when there are so many waiting in shelters for someone to give them a loving home.
