I saw a tv show on the Tasmanian tiger...probably 20 years ago. They said then that Ted Turner had offered a million dollar reward for anyone who could prove that the TT still there had been some supposed sitings. I am sure with a big prize waiting there were many people obviously the supposed sitings were false. Sad how man drives species to extinction and the few that have managed to come back from the brink are in danger again.

That sounds about right. Humans are the usual suspects and culprits when terrible things like this happen.

A disgusting truth, you would think, with the knowledge and science we have gained since then, that all countries would adopt no kill ecologically sound protocols for all wildlife preservation. As we speak the magnificent wolf of the US is being relentlessly slaughtered at the hands of trophy hunters, defies logic.

Hi Cher my old friend and Ruth... So very sad for any creature but especially for one so rare. A Marsupial and Carnivore, two for the price of one. What a unique animal.

I sometimes think we are nothing more than a virus that in its covetous lust for material wealth and power is devouring its host at a rapacious pace that will eventually kill it. Of course the host in this case might just turn the tables on the virus through climate change and seismic/Vulcan geothermal adjustments.

I am so very sorry to read this. This is our loss. What a wonderful creature gone and there are more on the way to extinction. This could happen to so many more of our animals, we make all make a change.

I sort of wish man could drive himself extinct. Not the good, just ALL of the bad ones. Although at the rate we are going, I guess that is already going to happen.
