Funny that there is a list ' Our four have fairly simple names , none were on the list
In reality I often say I should have named them , Yes Boss ' Your Majesty ' Ruler ' and I'm on it !

As they can be quite bossy at times .

I'm glad to read my Winston has a trendy name. In my shelter, we name the cats according to the month bey were brought in. So far we have Fern, Felicity, and Frances.

Please remember also that cats do not have the same moral objections to sibling mating as humans do. I once knew a woman who was shocked when her female cat became pregnant by her BROTHER!

There was a kitten featured recently on The Daily Kitten named La-a (pronounced Ladasha). And Max the Psychokitty has a "brother" called Buddha Pest (not quite how it's spelled, but you get the idea I'm sure).

A fascinating read--I had no idea anyone tracked names given to non-humans (although I shouldn't be surprised). Of course, there's always the question of what they call themselves. (And what they call us....)

Some really cute names in the list! My cat was named Stanley by the local SPCA and I stuck with that but I had originally wanted to call him Max lol!

I have had several cats named Kitty! Michel was named after the husband in Brigitte Bardot's movie, And God Created Women. He did his tricks en francais as well.

I named my long haired male cat, which somebody dumped in my yard,'Alpha Zulu.' He must have been about six weeks old and infested with fleas. He's beautiful and jet black.

My husband is into the old movies, so we have Miss Kitty (Gunsmoke) and Rocky. Just because it's trendy doesn't mean it fits the cat. Thanks for the article, Cher. Always fun to see what other people come up with for names.

Phew! None of mine were on the list! I named my first rescued girls Freida and Bettina, after Beatles fan club secretaries.(The Beatles Anthology was released when I rescued them in 1995). Bettina is here next to me. I have rescued cats and found them homes, including Jada and Raven (also not on the list). My boy from the 1995 rescue was originally nicknamed "Baby Orange", and later named Miggie by my husband. I added another orange male rescue and named him Seamus, and a semi-feral tortie rescue I named Veronica (Ronnie), after the Elvis Costello song. I now have a kitten living on my roof! She's been there for over a month and she has become tame with me, and is about 6 months old and scheduled for a spay. I think she will be Torrey (after the Baltimore Ravens Torrey Smith) or Lotus. I would love to hear feedback on the name for "roof kitty", if anyone cares to comment or send me a message. If she were a he, the name would be Rufus (although she's a brown tabby).

Sorry I forgot this when the post was new, but it's too good to resist. There's a cat (well, a kitten really, but now a big kitten) who has been featured several times on whose name is Magilla Glub Glub.
