Some cats avoid the water bowl like the plague. Are they crazy, or they trying to tell us something?

All 6 of my kitties are waterholics. It's just the way they are. They're happy and healthy and have 1/2 dozen bowls, but still the faucets, the toilets....

Thanks, Cher, for all these little articles. I enjoy reading them and most are subjects that are important to me.
Keep up the great work!

Noted. I have 2 cats {out of 5} who prefer drinking drinking water out of the faucet, I keep a coffee cup fullof water on the bathroom counter, and I have a large bowl of water in our room. The bowl is new because I used to have a fountain but our hard water "killed" it. Thanks so much, Cher.

we have a water fountain on each floor and both are away from their food and litter boxes. our boys like to drink the water as it's cascading down.

I have 3 cats who prefer drinking from the bathtub faucet. When they go to Nana's house, they have a ceramic bowl which they will use, but then it is up to the sink. My "middle child" has learned how to turn on the water in the bathtub, but he has not figured out how to turn it off. Amazingly, he only turns on the cold water tap. They have never tasted toilet water because the lid is down, and drinking out of a glass just doesn't happen because I drink from a water bottle to prevent spills from roaming kitties. I took my last cat to work several times and he used to follow me around the office to meet everyone. Talk about a keen sense of smell, when we weren't looking, he helped himself to some milk in a cup on one woman's desk. We laughed about it when he pulled his head out of the cup and had milk droplets all over his whiskers.

My youngest has a fixation in playing with a gentle stream of water fro the kitchen sink. He loves to get his head wet, ans just enjoys batting the water from the faucet; this episode lasts about 5-6 minutes almost every morning.

thanks for this story. My cat drinks from the bathroom faucet and has just found the kitchen faucet, she also tolerates water in a glass. especially if it is someone else's water glass. however she did not like the water fountain. Really glad I bought that for her. :-]

My mom's kitty would drink water with his right front paw, it was the funniest thing to watch.
