Noted. Hopefully, before it's too late, people will understand that if we kill the environment and thus the planet we live on, we will all die too! No more humanitarian issues to worry about....

We sort of need to take care of this planet and the people on it, to paraphrase an early Ani DiFranco song... I believe in the Gaia principle... this planet is living... with thriving life on it.

Here in Canada nothing is being done by our government. Only oil is important. Very sad indeed. We all should protect Mother Earth!

Birgit, I also am Canadian, and very disgusted with our current federal government cutting back on almost all environmental programs.

Just because we are not literally chocking as Japan and China are, this government, and those past are so jaded in developing a national environmental plan. Obama's Keystone support , his support of drilling in the arctic (although it has been halted due to Shell's incompetence -thank goodness) is evidence of this.
