California has done it. Wyoming just did it. New Hampshire is poised to do it too. And Minnesota is looking to do it again. Those states realize that declining revenue for transportation infrastructure requires bold legislative action to raise their

Good article! And hopefully, higher gas taxes will discourage *joy-riding* and help lower gas emmission.

What we’re seeing around the country is a shared solution to a common problem: raising the state gas tax to boost much-needed revenues to pay for critical infrastructure needs.
If you are waiting for DC to do something, don't hold your breath. Better to spend your efforts promoting new solutions in your state. Let's get this rolling.

Washington state has a high gas tax. It's not the highest in the US; but, is higher than the national average. I don't drive a lot and my car is fairly economical on gasoline. But, there is always the possibility that I won't be able to fill the tank if it is close to the end of the month. There is a public transportation system in place; but, it is expensive and for how much I drive, using the transit system would cost more for my personal transportation needs.

I guess we have to go back to our old way of living. Having little stores where we can go shopping by foot, etc. It has been taken away from us by the big corporations, and we did not even realize it at first.

Noted. This not doubt about it has to be done. I am with Bridgit W. It would be nice to have little stores where we could walk to, and we used to go once a day by foot.
Thanks Cher.

Obama promised in his first term to put people to work across the country in repairing our nation's roads and bridges. We see how far that went.
