St. Patrick's Day: No Better Day to Live Green

While many remain cloudy on the origins of St. Patrick, one thing is clear: March 17th is a day when we all get to be Irish. And there is no better way to celebrate the Emerald Isle than with some truly "green" activities and authentic Irish fun.

Let all work together for a GREEN planet.

Some fun facts from the article:

Fun facts about St. Patrick’s Day

Before you celebrate St. Paddy’s Day, consider these fun facts about the holiday and Ireland:

Next to St. Patrick, leprechauns may be the most famous residents of Ireland. These mythical fairies are purported to be shoemakers by trade but spend their time searching for gold and harassing humans.

It is said 13 million pints of Guinness beer are typically consumed worldwide on St. Patrick’s Day.

According to the Census Bureau, there are more than 36 million Irish-Americans. Meanwhile, the population of Ireland is a mere 4.5 million.

New York City lays claim to the largest St. Patrick Day parade in the world but some credit Boston as having the first parade — held way back in 1737 — in honor of the Irish patron.

Chicago likely wins the award for most innovative celebration tactic with its tradition of dyeing the Chicago River green.

On Saint Patrick's day we all have a bit of Irish!

I try to live green every day....actually St Patrick (who did not get rid of the non-existent snakes) is a bad day for us because my Irish wife (a Donovan) insists on corned beef....we eat more meat than the rest of the month.........

Noted with thanks Cher. I try to be green everyday!
We do celebrate St. Patrick's Day - lots of Irish in us - other half's favorite meal - corned beef and cabbage, with boiled potatoes, but don't have the taste for drink. I collect old Postcards with Irish Themes, and old pins of shamrocks to decorate with.
