Natural England declared that an unused army site by Chattenden in Kent is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and therefore, the Medway District Council in Kent cannot go through with plans to build 5,000 new homes there.

We are already losing our birds through concrete jungles here the trees go the birds are going Cut down on the population ie immigrants and there wont be such a need to keep building thousands of houses at a time and starting to encroach on our wildlife and birds habitats leave us our green areas they are fast disappearing

Building in this district would harm the nesting grounds of the nightingale, and their population sadly is on the decline.
Thank You Cher.

There's definitely a housing problem in this country. However, there's also a huge number of buildings lying empty. Surely it would be cheaper to renovate these as homes than to build new housing, as well as allowing us to keep more of our green spaces.

Noted, shared, and signed with a comment that got deleted: "For the sake of the continued existence of this songbird species, please do not develop this SSSI site, but let it remain a crucial breeding ground for nightingales." TY, Cher!

Noted, signed with comment below, twittered and google shared. Thanks for Chering.

We have way too many species that are declining at a very rapid pace and we need to start taking every measure possible to ensure that the remaining populations of these species are protected and allowed to breed. By taking away the nightingales' breeding grounds, you will be severely hampering their ability to thrive and build their declining numbers back up to a healthy level. There are more than enough other sites for you to choose from that will not be a detriment to the nightingales declining numbers.
