Public leaders need to protect the environment from a problem of increasing magnitude: the private ownership of exotic animals.

Why is this in the Offbeat category? It belongs in Animals. I don't get it. Please explain.

Does it really matter? As long as the information is posted, and we can read or take action I don't care what category is used. Honestly, I don't even look at categories. I would like to see one added for Social Justice, and one for Good news.

Texas as most know has a stupid law that people can own exotic pets, but need to license them (the licensing is under challenge). Some states have no laws at all. Exotic pets are wildlife taken from their natural habitat and sold to zoos, pet stores, black market "straw men" and more often than not, mistreated.

No more incidents of "Tony The TIger" at his roadside garage/zoo. Makes me SICK! Wild animals need to be in the wild, or sanctuaries if they are unable to live in the wild!

No WILD animal should ever be attempted to be tamed. While rescue and rehabilitaiton is good, they need to live their lives back in their own environment. Selling them as pets or keeping the as a pet in a cage is cruel abuse. Profit and greed dictate breeding them for sale as pets.

@Kit, I care what category it's in. I don't want to see UFO Sighting in Alps in 'U.S. Politics' for example. Most all media have sections and categories. Keeps things organized. Not keeping things in the proper categories just makes it that much harder for another C2 member (not me) to get their story on the front page in THAT category.

Anytime I read about some numb-skull buying an exotic pet Tony flashes across my mind. I know this post isn't about Tony but, by God, the Governor, or somebody, needs to step up and arrest Sandler's ass, and put Tony in a tiger-sanctuary in some exotic land and not tell Sandlin where!! ARRRRRGGGGGG!!!!!!! TY Cher :(

Although NJ and NY have these laws on the "bboks". periodically, you will read about a fool that had a 10 foot python removed from his home, or another fool is caught walking her per baby alligator (recent article).

Not one person on this earth has the right to claim ownership of a wild animal - they belong to all of us and it is our God given duty to care for, save and protect them.
