Portia - The Departure of a Great Master

The light was gone from her eyes. It seemed like no matter what we did she could not get comfortable and she seemed very unhappy. So we fulfilled our promise and let her out of a body that was no longer serving her.

The greatest gift we can give animnals is an easy exit out of life which is no longer good. Sounds as if this poor bird was another victim of human tinkering with genetics--for profit!

RIP, Portia. You had a good life with very caring and responsible friends.

It is a kindness we can give to animals, but somehow we can not offer that same gentle "good night" for each other.
Personally, I think forcing any living creature, no matter it's kingdom and phyla to live through pain and agony that will still end with death, is cruel.

That was one of the nicest story I have heard in a looooong time, it REALLY REALLY touched my heart in a very "deep way". It is like I know exactly what they mean and how they feel, such wonderful people. Wow, it really touched me. Cause some people, actually waaaaay 2 many ,would think this is silly.... And THAT makes me so angry, if Im arguing with ppl over something it could be stuff like this, or when they dont understand that E.T IS my family and not "my dog", etc etc.. Well this really got me going, lol ;)

Very nice indeed. Respect and RIP sweet Portia....

It's sad to say goodbye to any animal raised as a pet. Portia was one of the rare turkeys whose body did not end up on a Thanksgiving table.

The suffering of chickens and turkeys is immense - only bred to last for a matter of weeks, their bloated bodies won't allow them to have a normal life. Portia was one of the lucky ones.

So nice that this turkey was cared for So many people do not give turkeys a second thought and have no idea how their genetics are interfered with and the suffering all they are interested in is seeing them on the dinner table for the cheapest price possible

Noted thanks
