I just go with their moods, some days I have one in my lap, one behind my head and the other helping me type, other days, they ignore me unless it's time to eat. That one that is 13 years old only wanders around when she decides she wants some cuddles.

I remember how my cats would mewwww at me from the floor and then spring up on to my lap, rubbing their whiskers against my mouth...I seized every opportunity my cats bestowed upon me because I knew once I fed them they'd be on their meowy little way. Except my Princess Ezzie-Wezzie....before she'd leave, she'd almost always jump back in my lap and 'thank' me by rubbing her face against mine. 'OK Ezzie, you're welcome....you're welcome...' I ansewered, as she'd stand on my lap, and I'd move my wheelchair forward, trying to reach my front door to let her, and her siblings outside. But sometimes Kirby'd jump on the doorknob, stick his right paw under the door, and pull the door open. Funny, but he never learned how to close it! LOL So, I guess you could say, my cats were lap cats when they wanted something!! Thnx Cher!!

Dogs are owned; cats are contracted. Cats that enjoy a little of both, accepting either a lap or a windowsill perch and are affectionate without tripping or getting stepped on by their humans seem best to me.

I have cats that are both so either one for me! They're always fascinating and seem to know intuitively when I'm down (even the more independent ones, to give me the love and reassurance that I really need at times!) But, there is definitely a disparity in their demeanors. Beauregarde or Boggie for short, is really a cool cat and has everything under control and is probably my most independent but yet he has times when he just loves to rub his head on me- and will even take a nap with me! And Lottie and Baby Hughie just are the most affectionate animals you could ever meet. They shower me in kisses every day and even Lottie loves to perch herself on my shoulder! Love them all!

I love them all. I have 5 now, including my original "rescues", now 17 years old, my 2 rescues that are 7 and 8 years old, and the 8 month old that I discovered living on my roof 3 months ago!

Love the cats that own me, matters not if they are lap cats or the independent type. Am also allergic but cannot resist the ones who wish to take me over or ...(whisper) sleep on my bed. They own the place so they go where they wish. Am also allergic to the grass, maple, alder and birch tree pollen which abound in the neighbourhood and rural areas here... so spend my time with felines who own me, my friend's cats who visit here inside hours every day and photographing everything in the fields and forests where pollen abound.

The 2 kitties i'm fostering at the moment are complete opposites of each other, Scarlet has to sit on my lap almost continually, even now as i type, while Stevie is happy to watch me from his kitty cave while Wolf my chihuahua licks his face, gorgeous babies i love them all!
