Great article. The time to start with our children is when they are very young - and what child doesn't like to get dirt on their hands - even if you only have a variety of plant pots, a family could have a little variety of fresh herbs.

One thing I would like to add. When and if your child brings lunch to school, PLEASE, avoid buying juice boxes! At lunch, we have nearly 300 a day!.Plus the straw.There are so many other alternative drinking cups that you can fill each day.

I used to take my children to the library each week - it was a special treat and cost nothing!
