It is absolutely ridiculous to allow wolves be hunted and trapped, the North American continent has already lost so many unique animals like the auk and the pronghorn sheep. / sub-species lost by the actions of settlers. No more, please, no more, the populations are critical as far as genetic material is concerned. The possibility of inbreeding increases as populations diminish. Ant that puts the entire wolf population and its sub-species in harms way. The genetic diversity number, if I remember it right, is about 1,000 individuals. and the wolves are well below that number.
The sub-species have bees separated for such a long time, that they have minute, but significant genetic variations, and yet they can breed with any other wold. To grant the purity of a sub-species is to lave the wolves alone, create a sanctuaries for them, they belong into the USA soil. These sub-species alive today are the remaining live ones from settler hints and bounty hunts. The whole world needs all its wolves alive, they have their own, particular ecological niche to fill. If wolves die, the rodent populations has an exponential populations explosion, and that is just one example. ESA TO PROTECT WOLVES!

Dear Cher, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but this is an excellent opportunity to promote other wolf-related petitions on the North America:

My concern over the delisting of wolves across the nation is becoming quite severe. We spent so much time trying to bring wolves back from the edge of extinction and now, due to the power and influence of the Ranchers and Cattle Association, they are being slaughtered at an alarming rate. We must not continue on in this way. Wolves are absolutely vital to a healthy ecosystem as they help keep prey populations in check. The only reason wolves will prey on livestock is when their habitat is threatened and their food sources are removed or cut off from them.

This country has grown so greedy and bloodthirsty that we are killing off all of the iconic species that make this nation so unique and special.

Please, re-list the wolves under the ESA and take every measure possible to ensure that we have healthy wolf populations that are genetically diverse to avoid inbreeding. We need the wolves. Please, help them before they are all gone.
