Tenn. Gov. Bill Haslam vetoed the anti-whistleblower "ag-gag" bill, SB 1248/HB 1191, with the opinion that the bill is "Constitutionally Suspect," "Appears to Repeal Parts of Tennessee's Shield Law" and "Makes it More Difficult to Prosecute Animal Cruelty

This is awesome news, but legislators, specifically some guy named Holt is furious this was vetoed. There was a report quoting this pig-raising lawmaker and he is clearly an unprofessional a-hole with a personal axe to grind with the HSUS. They will try tooth and nail to draft another bill that can pass muster. It is sickening. Don't they have better things to do? I am glad the unconstitutional aspect of this was finally raised. So why haven't the states that have passed this filth been sued? I hope the ACLU goes aftet them.

I remain astonished that anyone would ever, ever even attempt to virtually legalize animal abuse and neglect! It simply blows my mind that anyone could be so terribly, terribly sick as to even come up with the idea, much less try to make it law! If these horrible perpetrators are so ashamed of their actions that they feel they must take steps to keep their animal cruelty a well-known "secret", and punish good Samaritans with courage and heart who report them to try to end the abuse (which is the ONLY logical response after TREAT THE ANIMALS WELL in the first place), they should just STOP BEING ABUSIVE AND CRUEL! The answer is sooooooooo SIMPLE! What is really OBVIOUS is that the people who want this ag-gag bill in place are the abusers/neglectors, themselves! Prosecute them! It's like shooting fish in a barrel! They have readily identified themselves as perpetrators by "needing" to pass this legislation, so let their sick, sadistic idea backfire on them. Prosecute! Make them pay by demanding that conditions improve drastically, immediately, and keep them closely monitored to be certain they are doing so, and maintaining the humane conditions, then fine them huge amounts of money, make them do hundreds of hours of community service which helps animals, have those at the top of the "food chain" who make these horrendous decisions to abuse, the chain of command supervisors who enforce the abuse, and the actual animal handlers spend a l-o-n-g time in prison, and enter all their names on a life-long national animal abuse registry which details their crimes against God's creatures. I'll bet no one EVER again tries to pass such an AWFUL bill.
