My cats sit quietly by my bed and wait for me to wake up, because they are well trained ;)
When the little one was a kitten, he used to wait right in front of my face, and when my eyes opened, he did a little dance, literally! He threw his paws up in joy and jumped a few times :D

My cats and dogs politely wait for me to rise ~ but they know that will be at 5 a.m. no matter what. I'M the creature of habit!!

Yep, that's about right! They're into the 'routine' of things, and like to keep it all moving along in an orderly fashion, Lol! And kitties love to wake up energized, and enjoying the morning getting frisky with YOU! I love it, too!

Cat are wonderful about keeping you on time but we have just gotten a boxer puppy about 2 months ago and he will wake me up just before the alarm goes off at 6:30 AM. So dogs do this also.

Cats (and dogs) are highly customised human companions. They're much more than glorified alarm clocks.

And the cat knows if you don't get to work on time you won't feed him if you get fired. And that's another reason for you to live with a cat!

Our dear cat would wake us at different times on week days from the week ends, when she let us sleep in till seven! We loved her dearly for 15 years.

My cats never wake me up, but I've had several who know when I get home from work and are at the door to greet me. If I get home early, they are really surprised to see me.

My beloved old cat Jasper went through a phase when he was two of waking me at 3.18 am precisely every day for a couple of years - and yes, despite being ill and sleeping very badly even without Jassy's help, he survived to live to 16! I only got him out of this habit (purely accidentally) by stumbling awake one morning to see if he needed anything and clumsily knocking over a jug full of water - the resultant tidal wave of water seemed to have decided HRH Jasper that it wasn't worth trying it again - even though it went nowhere near him - and I had to clean up the mess for the next hour! (Wish I had known about it two years before though!).
