Now is our chance to bring this issue to Jewell's attention and hold her to her promise to work together toward reform. We're collecting signatures on an open letter that will be delivered to Sally Jewell .

Thanks for adding your name, ! We can't do this alone, however. Sally Jewell needs to hear from every American who is sick and tired of the BLM's program.

On behalf of the Assoc. for the Advancement of Natural Horse Care Practices (www.aanhcp.net), I urge you to consider writing to Sec. Jewell using the StepInSally petition as the foundational body but delete the portion suggesting the use of fertility control/contraception on these horses.

The species is already subject to health issues as a result of the proliferation of pharmaceuticals deemed "safe" for domestic horses but that actually cause laminitis, Cushings and other metabolic disorders (chemical wormers, sedatives, bute, annual vaccinations, fertility inhibitors such as ReguMate, etc.) and opening the door to wide-spread contamination of the wild horses should be fiercely opposed and not proposed. The Humane Society of the U.S., the patent-holder for PZP, has monetary interests in seeing this used on the wild horse herds. Just because we have no known causality of this "vaccination" (technically, PZP is classified as a pesticide by the Environmental Protection Agency) causing deaths in our wild horses, there is no way of knowing the multitude of ways it could endanger their health. For many reasons, wild horses should be free of human intervention. By allowing the wild horses to be free of contamination by science, they can remain naturally healthy, fit and sound, 'clean' study group for studying health and wellness
