Are you looking for a patio transformation that will delight the eye without requiring the purchase of a bunch of cheaply-made, environmentally non-friendly baubles? If so, then put on your work clothes, round up some discarded treasures and get ready

I love the pallet planter idea, it is brilliant! Thank you! Reversing the throw away attitude is so important.

I hired an idiot to move me. I packed my drawers into my car, and he took the dresser shell. Somewhere along the road, the tarped and tied down dresser "fell off" or something to that nature he said.
So, I used my orphaned drawers as planters. Just like the photo.
Also....stick some old records in a hot 425 oven (like after making pizza), a few minutes and they are flexible. Drape them over a jar and bend the sides over it a bit. Let them cool (a few minutes). Later, paint them with left over house paint or craft paints...like a poppy maybe- red with black center. Screw the center of the record into a wood fence ....instant cheap recycled "art"!
Not sure if vinyl is "toxic" to heat...but what the hell seems like everything else is anyhow.

You can make beautiful ''sun-catchers'' by gluing old CDs together (label sides in) and stringing them vertically with fishing line. Hang them in trees and watch the rainbows. It's a good way to keep birds away from your seedlings.

Interesting the things you can do with simple materials. Eye pleasing too.

avoid plastc products as much as you can and you won't have to upcycle.
