Although most major brand pet food manufacturers deny that they use euthanized shelter animals in pet food, the fact remains that it is done, and it is legal. Euthanized animals are rendered into meat meal, and meat-by-products at numerous locations.

With the way mad cow disease came about (feeding cattle with feed that included dead cattle) I am dismayed that this is occurring.

I really don't see why this is so unacceptable. Is there any difference between a dead cat or dog and a dead chicken or cow? Our companions require animal protein and any dead animal provides animal protein. We allow cats and dogs to breed unchecked, we abandon them, and we have no option but to euthanize them. Should their existence have no value or purpose at all?
Okay, before you take aim please give me time to duck!

Nestle 'Purina (information from time stomach)?
AND WHY WE SUPPORT vivisection?

The president of the American Association for the official control of food intake has admitted that it is common practice that the bodies of dead pet animals for euthanasia are used as components of dry food under the name of "flesh and bones."

All of the following products for Purina dog food contain the ingredient "meat and bones": Purina Dog Chow, Alpo dry dog food, Purina Beneful, Purina Active Senior, Purina Fit & Trim, Purina Little Bites, Purina Healthy Morsels.

All of the following products for Purina cat food contains the ingredient "meat and bones" Purina Cat Chow, Friskies dry cat food.

Beyond the horror of such a practice, the phenobarbital, used to kill the animals, it remains in significant quantities in the flesh of animals. In addition, the corpses of dogs killed in shelters are sent to factories and thrown into machines that shred them wearing collars against fleas and identification plate, then this is all that will be used to compose the kibble.

It 'clear that the Purina is able to contain the cost of its products by using ingredients very low quality, but use animals from shelters is unjustifiable, unacceptable as are the health problems that this may cause.

(And now we understand why, in America, will never stop killing animals in shelters, despite the protests of the people) ...

In addition, the Purina supports vivisection producing food specially designed for laboratory animals: LabDiet.

Indeed, the web pages of LabDiet, goes to recommend the various breeds that are better suited to animal testing.

According to them, the Beagles would be compatible with the long-term experimentation, because "they adapt well to life in a cage."
Greyhounds says Purina, are "a common choice for surgical experimentation."

Eventually, the company asserts that the dogs are very popular for sperimentazine animal, thank you "to their temperament and loyalty to their guardians."

These statements of a company that supports even that pet animals are her passion.

How can the Purina claim to be "passionately committed to giving pets a better life," while simultaneously supporting vivisection?

Guys boycot PURINA

Very awful, ugh. Also, if you find yourself ever in the terrible position of ever needing to sadly having to euthanize one of your fur-babes, please keep this in mind. The animal creamatoriums are not regulated. So please stay with your pet ALL THE WAY through the process. The grief is over whelming and we tend to want to trust our vet's office, but even they have nothing to do with the pets once they are turned over. So demand to go with your pet. It's a terrible idea, but many complaints come through that the ashes are coming back that are not the owners own pets, and they are valid. Many Many cases are true, people are not getting their own pets back. So, just avoid the hassle. Stay with your pet.
