Closing GITMO is the easy part.....the hard part is what to do with these men who will be killed going back to their respective countries and are probably hardened criminals at this point give the fact that we don't really know what goes on in the heart's of men anyway.

Signed. It is appalling that the United States of America, the home of the free and the land of the brave, supports torture and imprisonment without being charged with a crime!

Good Lord, can you imagine? The mediefal days are upon us again. This is hideous, and I certainly hope Mr. obama closes this torture chamber. Things like this make you wonder what horrors they'll come up with next.

Noted, tweeted, shared, and signed, tweeted and shared. This is a difficult subject. During Obama's first term; he tried to close Guantanamo, but the GOP refused to allow him to transport any of the prisoners to the United States or to countries such as Yemen. So he was caught in a Catch 22. No place to place them and no one wanted them to stay where they were. Wonder what is going to happen?

Signed. But you dear stupid people do realize that Obama can not close GITMO without Congressional support and action. I know , I know simple is easy and direct and in this case pure crap! Close GITMO and do what with it, Repugs refuse even a single penny to do that. And the "certification and waivers' mentioned by the legislators are a joke on par with a burning bag of doggy do on the front porch. There are only 86 GITMites that qualify for the 'C & W', which by the by I feel safe in assuming you do not know requires that the President personally Guarantee that none of those released will ever commit an act of terrorism, which by the by GW Bush did not have to do.
The rest of the GITMites fall into 2 groups, those that have or are being tried by the Military Commissions and those that are classified as continuing security threats but for whom there is insuffient evidence to bring them to trial. And for the last two it is I fear going to be up to the Supreme Court to decide their fate not the President.
