I don't remember burying deceased pets when I was a kid, but I think some sort of closure is healing and honors the life of the animal.

Lastly, if you have to put an animal dow, DO NOT bring the child with you! No responsible vet should allow a child to see their pet die.

good advice .... we used to hold little funerals when I was a child. When my own child lost his pets, we would take them to a nice place in the garden to be buried.

Its really a hard moment when your animal friends pass, it can be even harder for kids, I know I have been there, when I was a kid I lost my bunny Peter and it was really a sad time for me.

A sad and often tragic subject. Children find it so difficult but will treasure their memories of a loved pet.
