"Target: Fond du Lac City Council President Samuel Meyer
Goal: Stop the recent trend of abandoning pets in the Wisconsin town of Fond du Lac
The Wisconsin town of Fond du Lac has made numerous headlines over the past year for a slew of animal abuse cases, all involving abandonment. Nobody is still quite sure what is causing the trend, but the toll it is taking on the animals and the medical expenses created for local animal shelters has become unbearable."
Making all this the responsibility of one person is unrealistic. In fact, if a community has a well-appointed and provided for animal shelter, people from outside the community may choose to drive their animals there to dump them. I don't think it is fair to "target" the Font du Lac city council president, or the community itself for that matter - "The number of animal abandonment cases Fond du Lac has seen in recent years is truly staggering. Something must be done to educate the town’s residents and get them to understand that abandonment simply isn’t an option."
It sounds like they are already taking care of this problem - whether it originates inside or outside their community. - e.g. "The local humane shelter was forced (sic) to start a medical fund in which donations can be given to help them deal with the major medical expenses these cases have burdened them with. “We want to make sure that animals who come in with major medical issues do not have to be euthanized,” said Renee Webb of the Fond du Lac Humane Society. Fortunately, all of the above stories have happy endings. Students at a local high school raised $600 to help pay for Buttercup’s surgery, all of the dogs have found homes, and the two surviving kittens are being cared for by their adoptive mother Cookie who literally nursed them back to health."
I think sending them a bunch of signatures with irate/emotional messages is short-sighted at this point.

Noted and signed - I am telling you, the human race I am sure is a disgrace to God, how do so called humans live with themselves knowing that they have left an innocent, voiceless and defenceless animal behind. This is totally unforgivable, little wonder I have zero time for the majority of humans and don't even want to be associated with them.

done. Shame on people who do this. Pets are not toys-they are family. Try to find a suitable home if you no longer wish to keep them and do not dump them like so much garbage on the street. There really is no heart left

I think people should start to teach children in school that its not acceptable to dump pets and that if you get one you have to be responsible for its life and welfare Too little is made of pets welfare
