Reportedly, Hunt Pacific Management Corporation--a commercial real-estate company that owns multiple apartment complexes across several states--requires tenants to declaw their cats. PETA has contacted the company several times, but to no avail.

Reportedly, Hunt Pacific Management Corporation—a commercial real-estate company that owns multiple apartment complexes across several states—requires tenants to declaw their cats. PETA has contacted the company several times, but to no avail. We need your help!

Outlawed in 22 countries, declawing is a cruel and permanently crippling surgery involving amputation of the last joint of every toe, including bones and cartilage! Persistent pain, loss of balance, nerve damage, bone chips requiring additional surgery, gangrene, and skin disorders are associated physical complications—and nails can later grow back painfully and unseen, within the paw. Declawed cats often become reclusive, depressed, and insecure and begin eliminating outside the litterbox. Psychologically changed, these animals are then bounced around from home to home or wind up at animal shelters.

Please politely urge Hunt Pacific Management Corporation to join the numerous property management companies that do not require declawing. And please, forward this alert widely!

Because they are a large corporation, they use their power and intimidate tenants to have their cats declawed. Outrageous! Maybe a company repshould be presen and witnes the mutilation themselves. It is not merely removing a fingernail..it is breaking bone, etc..

Not unless they're forcing established tenants to declaw cats already on the premises or face eviction. If it's a move-in requirement of their rental policy, too bad, don't move in.

E-mail sent. I have seen this procedure and cannot even think about it without balling up my hands and cringing inside. Declawing should be illegal! Thanks Cher.

It has come to my attention that your company requires tenants cats to be declawed This is an extremely cruel practice and is now outlawed in 22 countries around the world You are obviously putting financial gains in front of cruelty to animals and this should not now be happening in this day and age
If you went to stay in a hotel you would not expect to have your fingernails ripped out first It is the same thing for a human and apart from being just as painful , we dont have to grip things with ours like cats do and its bad enough for us when our nails break
Claws are a normal part of a cats anatomy and should not be tampered with
If it was not a cruel painful practice so many places now would not be banning it
Time For this outdated cruel barbaric treatment of cats to end for good

For the attention of:

Daniel Weber, President and CEO
Hunt Pacific Management Corporation

Dear Sirs,

I am mailing you concerning your rule, that ensures your tenants declaw their pet cats. This is a horrific, compulsory rule and considering the dire affects it has on these poor animals, is very cruel.

I live in the UK, where this is illegal and I thank God for that, because it is a barbaric thing to put cats through and highly unnatural for them to endure.

Please note:

Outlawed in 22 countries, declawing is a cruel and permanently crippling surgery involving amputation of the last joint of every toe, including bones and cartilage! Persistent pain, loss of balance, nerve damage, bone chips requiring additional surgery, gangrene, and skin disorders are associated physical complications—and nails can later grow back painfully and unseen, within the paw. Declawed cats often become reclusive, depressed, and insecure and begin eliminating outside the litter-box. Psychologically changed, these animals are then bounced around from home to home or wind up at animal shelters, or euthanazed.

Therefore, I am asking you, Hunt Pacific Management Corporation, to join the numerous property management companies that do not require declawing.

Many people and their pets will be so grateful and this can only help your business.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Yours Sincerely
