Tigers belong free in their own (unchanged) environments , not caged and "Owned" to be an exhibit.

If this wins at the state Supreme Court would it mean that a total ban on private ownership of tigers is possible?

Here we go again. They really need to stop playing with Tony's life. You are so right Kit. A total ban on wildlife ownership is what's needed to stop all this cruelty and non sense of owning these animals. It is taking way to long to get Tony out of there. Take Tony to a sanctuary where he can run around, and not be in prison! Makes me soooooo mad! Thanks for the update on Tony Cher.

This poor tiger has suffered enough and it is time to get him to a sanctuary.

Poor Tony, after all this time stuck in a cage. That truckstop owner is real bastard and I hope he loses.

They need to take him and put him in a cage for 12 years and see how he likes it. It's Louisiana and they're a RED state. Red states aren't known for their compassion toward animals so this doesn't look good to me.

Tony needs a sanctuary. The lawyer wrote about "The delight of children seeing Tony"....I doubt that it is very delightful for Tony. It is abuse. Plain and Simple. There absolutely needs to be a ban on people buying and keeping these big cats as if they were pets. Frankly all it does is expose these children to an up close and personal experience with animal abuse. It is pure luck that Tony hasn't killed anyone........yet.

When will people learn that these are wild animals and they can NEVER be tamed? I live with 4 house cats and I can tell you...even they are not that far removed from their "wildness"...they just CHOOSE to live in harmony with me.
In a town about 25 miles from me, last week, a couple shot and killed a leopard that was in their backyard. They thought it was a bobcat that was killing the local small animals. I sure wish they hadn't have shot the big cat but I have a feeling someone thought it would be "cute" to "own" a big cat. Then the reality of having a wild animal that can and will kill you hit them. I think some jerk just let the cat go "into the wild" and now it is dead. I am so frustrated that ignorance is so prevalent in this day and age.
There are a million stupid useless laws on the books. I can't believe we have to have one that tells people "NO, you can't have the WILD TIGER/LION in your house/backyard. Idiots! Anyone with an ounce of empathy or true love for these animals would spend 10 seconds asking themselves what the animal would want. People who want to "own" these animals epitomize the selfishness that is inherent in humans.

All Michael Sandlin is interested in is making money, and unfortunately he sees Tony as one huge $ sign!!! Tony needs to be sent to a tiger sanctuary where he can breathe FRESH AIR and feel GRASS under his paws!! I'm NOT GIVING UP!! One way or another Tony WILL get to a SANCTUARY !!!!!!!! TYSM Cher!!

this is never-ending story for Tony. Just when you think it's being taken care up Micheal Sandlin rears his ugly greedy head. Please someone end this fiasco and do the right thing by Tony
Put a ban on people owning exotic animals

I've been following this story for years. I hope Tony finally gets to go to a santuary. I dislike Michael Sandlin so much and avoid going to this business and encourage others to avoid his business at all costs. I hope Sandlin is thrown in jail for decades and forced to pay for all the court costs and the upkeep and medical costs for Tony until the day Tony dies. I hope for a long healthy life for Tony. When does the Superior court hear this case? I hope the other circuit judges are sued for their lack of support for Tony.

This fight to free Tony has gone on for 2 years -the egotistical Mr,Sandlin will not let him go -he say's he loves Tony -if he did he would free him and let him live out his remaining years in a sanctuary-it has become a a matter of -pride and ego with Mr.Sandlin-in the meantime Tony is suffering -lonely-inhaling fumes from the trucks -pacing in a cement box- private ownership of exotic animals should not be allowed-I hope Tony goes -free -now-no more court cases.

My heart breaks for poor Tony. He needs to go to a sanctuary now and live like a tiger. What kind of warped person would want to cage such a magnificent creature? This really makes my blood boil!

Enough holding Tony captive! He has been imprisoned long enough! Michael Sandlin has no reason to keep Tony other then for money! Who is feeding Tony and taking care of him now?

I haven't heard of Tony's plight for a couple of years. I thought he had died of old age. Poor cat. There are animal rights groups in Louisiana who keep fighting the good fight ...protesting Tulane university's research labs, alligator amusement pits, etc. They are a small voice in the overall apathy towards animals in the Deep South, let alone human rights.

I fervently hope that the Louisiana Supreme Court sees to it that the truck stop tiger gets a fair deal, and that he will be introduced to living in grass and trees and water--and the joy of existing.

Noted! Set Tony free. Give him room to run! Put him in a game preserve when they can keep an eye on him to make sure he can make it in the wild! If not then retire him to a sanctuary !

Hard for me to understand countries that let you keep a tiger in the backyard pretending to treat her like a cat or treating her badly

I am so tired of hearing how they've come closer and closer to freeing this animal. DO IT ALREADY! I work right across the street from Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, FL and those guys would LOVE to have Tony. Why is this not a no-brainer for the courts?? Michael Sandlin is a Michael Vick of the tiger abuse world. Why isn't he facing fines and jail time in the last 12 years?? He's even held other tigers captive there! I just dont get it! Enough is enough. Tony is a prisoner in a free country, where even rapists and murders have more rights than helpless animals. Makes me sick. And those fools who are backing up Sandlin and his dog and pony show make me even sicker!!

Dang - the page cannot be found.
I want to know if Tony gets to be free like he should be in a sanctuary or if he is still in prison with Sandlin!
