In my house, cats go from sheer confusion to "Wild Kingdom" wrestling in minutes.

My cats are not shy about telling me when it's "chow time". Often that begins with leg rubs, to get my attention, then a lap 'plop' to remind me that I'm not doing my duty, next will be long plaintiff cries from the stairs, saying, (in essence) "I haven't eaten in days, please feed me now." All of pleas for food come within about ten seconds of the last one, all done in under a minute. I almost forgot, there is also the "meow, meow, meow" or just get up and do it now. Patience is virtue, lost on cats when it's food time.

mine make sure I am up early and ready to feed them right away!! then they go into the patio to watch the squirrels and birds eat, then they take their morning nap.

My first cat, Spanky, had the most adorable way to way me up; he used to lick my eyelids.
Today, my middle cat has taken over as breakfast provider- he just slaps my face....

My cats seldom will hiss each other, but one, Shiloh will swat at anything that walks pass her at dinner time. The others don't walk close to her, unless they forget, then she helps them remember. That being said, she seldom will eat the wet food. She just likes the anticipation or likes to copy what the other cats are doing.

Cute article. Thanks Cher :")

My girl meows, or stares...sometimes licks her lips. If she sees an empty space in the bottom of her bowl, she won't eat until you cover it up. Then she eats like 3 morsels and walks away.
She's weird...but I love her all the same :")

My girls are vocal for various reasons but they certainly do get my attention.

No, my 4 are well behaved, even towards each other, though I can't claim that's my influence ;-)
So just 2 or 3 stages:
start perhaps with some attention-to-the-empty-bowl-seeking,
then anticipation,
then either eat or walk away disgusted because this muck just won't do.
