Three Reasons You Shouldn't Shave Your Pet

It's hot out there! And if your Golden Retriever or long-haired kitty seems to suffer when the mercury rises, you might feel some temptation to break out your grooming tools and give your pets a full shave-down. We get where you're coming from.

I plea guilty, we had a little cocker spaniel when my children were young. We did shave her in the summer. After reading this I sure would know better.

You are most welcome, Cher.

I'm not so certain I would take this article at face value. I've only had one cat that I shaved and I know she was happier and healthier all summer. There are sufficient comments after the article to indicate that other readers vary on their opinions of this author. I'd do a bit more research myself, before making a final decision.

The Pet Experts know....Take their advice....If the animals weren't supposed to have fur they would have been born without it.

I have a Golden and my husband will see this article to prove what I have been telling him all along. God gave him his fur for a reason, lol.
Thanks Cher!

Not the first time I've heard this. A few yrs back a neighbor shaved her dog for the very reason talked about - heat. She then let the dog outside. A lttle while after letting him in she noticed his skin looked pink - he was sunburned. The vet bill for special cream that had to be put on several times a day was not cheap. She also couldn't let him out in the direct sun until his coat was growing back.
