I'm just not okay with a cat using the toilet, and here are eight reasons why. What do you think?

And....it's costs forty bucks for the potty training stuff, with no guarantee that it will work. I have a cat that loves to flush the toilet, he will flush a dozen times just to watch the water. I need to keep the seats down.

I have a champion litter box. Easy to clean every morning and no odor in the house.

Main reason I am against is No 1 from article: “Your cat’s output is a vital measure of his health.”
But I disagree with statement from article: ” There’s a reason cat behaviorists recommend that you have one litter box per cat plus one”
I have 3 cats and just one (special & large) litter box & they share it without any kind of problems.

Wow – I’ve just watched the video demonstration of “your” litter box Jeanne . It is a space shuttle comparing to one we have! And I thought we have a "special" one :)))

I agree Ljijanna and I think it wrong for all the reasons listed. Let cats do what nature has instilled in them; scooping litter boxes is just not that hard.

Oops, I agree with Ljijlana on the medical point.

However, we do have multiple litter boxes (3 boxes for 4 cats). It avoids squabbling and makes sure there is always one available. One of cats is approaching 20 y.o. and needs quick access. :)

No way, cats have to use the litter box, why we have to not respect their nature and treat them like humans, they are not, we have to respect them in the way that they are, adorable felines!

Completely agree with all of the reasons given in the article. We have 5 cats and 3 very large boxes that are scooped 2-3X/day and they seem very happy with that arrangement.

Yes i agree to have litter boxes if you cannot have cat flaps If mine could not for any reason get to a box they would instinctively go in the bath which was no problem

noted thanks

I agree with the entire article, especially #1 of course. But a word of warning - if you fall for potty-training, if you think it's really cute ~ DON'T teach the cat how to flush!! I adopted a kitty who came potty-trained. He was so fascinated by the swirling water that he would flush and flush............ Three years I lived with my bathroom door shut always.

All my cats used boxes - never crossed my mind to toilet train them. Thank you for interesting article; liked the comments here and after article.

Lol, Barbara D! The cat that owns me is absolutely fascinated by a flushing toilet, no way am I telling her the secret or it would be going all day...and night...and then some. I haven't met anyone with a toilet trained cat but I imagine there are some of them out there. Think that I will stick with the tried and true litter pan.
