To some it may seem like an odd dichotomy that a hybrid car with two energy sources could actually be better for the environment than traditional cars with only one. However, that is exactly the belief that hybrid experts support - the idea that hybrid

If the electricity comes from solar power, then we really do have Green Cars.

"5 miles per gallon better mileage on average than a traditional gasoline-powered vehicle" I think this is inaccurate. At 46 mpg my Prius gets considerably better than 5 mpg better milage.

Newer cars are getting better MPG than older cars. Still, the ICE is only about 85% efficient. Some would say it is even less efficient. My previous car was a Toyota Camry. It wasn't a hybrid and because I only drove it in town, the MPG were not as high as they could have been if it could have been driven on long trips on the freeway. My present car is a Toyota Prius. It's the perfect car for my driving. At the last fill up, I had averaged 50 MPG. I know somebody who drives a Mini Cooper and can average that mileage on her car. The thing is, the Prius is a mid-size and the Mini isn't. When a Mini Cooper pulls up next to me at a traffic light, I feel as though I am driving an SUV.

they're not bad, but 100% electric technology has made leaps and bounds, and clean energy sources are now readily available. They're a very nice intermediate car for those who genuinely need to buy a car. I could not encourage anyone to scrap a perfectly good car to replace it with a hybrid, though. Manufacturing cars is a big undertaking as far as resource use goes, and it takes a while for emmision reductions to save what the emissions from manufacturing had created. Seriously, it's time for electric cars to stop being killed off by big oil.
