Consumers Are Smart Enough To Handle GMO Labeling

Hot on the heels of revelations that the USDA has quietly approved a new generation of genetically modified crops, the editors at Scientific American have penned an op-ed arguing against labeling GMOs in food.

"When I go to the supermarket, I donít look for a ďno GMOĒ label because Iím afraid of scientific progress or new methods of horticulture. I shop for GMO-free products because I believe the companies behind them are dangerous, unethical, and their methods are inherently unsustainable. I avoid GMOs because I donít want to subject my body to increased pesticide residues and I donít want to support companies that poison agricultural laborers. I firmly believe that avoiding GMOs where possible is the ethical choice. I trust that other consumers who oppose GMOs are smart enough to make the same decision for themselves." ~ Exactly. I think they are afraid we ARE smart enough to handle GMO's and will simply reject all GMO food - including the not-so-golden Golden Rice...

Arielle is correct. The MegaCorps are afraind of consumers, because thy know we do have millions of voices and if we find out the truth, all out in the open, these sneaky, conniving, lying, (censored) will have to pull all of their bad food and seeds off the market...worldwide.

The problem is that we ARE smart! I've just lost all faith in ScientificAmerican - what a load of hogwash!

The headline is also the reason why food companies don't want labeling.

Thanks for the article, Cher. I fully agree with the author and the comments made here. I can't believe we used to subscribe to the Scientific American; another medium not to be trusted, it seems. The fact that it apparently was an editorial piece and not a scientific paper really says it all. Makes you wonder in whose pockets the editors at Scientific American are.
