A Long Islander had a run-in with the law over the collection of 850 snakes, including two Burmese pythons, he kept in his garage. And in Pennsylvania, a proposed law would end legal ownership of exotic pets like lions, tigers and bears. Is it OK to keep

Until people stop getting their sense of self-esteem/image as VERY VERY COOL from ''owning'' exotic animals, this will continue...legal or not!

As a 22-year zoo educator, you can imagine how loathsome I find this! Dogs, cats, rabbits and other domesticated animals make fine pets! Exotic cats, snakes, primates, etc, do NOT "belong" to humans as ''pets.''

Period.
