In an effort to reduce costs and their environmental footprint, a lot of companies are trying to develop a paperless workspace. According to Envirowise - a government-funded group - only 7.5 per cent of office waste reaches a recycling facility.

I just made my hospital paperless. It had better be good for the environment!! What a major PIA ~ and we haven't even started working all the bugs out.

Even my small school system has made great strides in going paperless. Yet, for many important itens, I will still print out a hard copy in fear of a virus,or a malfunction that will wipe out my email. It has happened.

Going paperless can save many trees each year. But there is still more to be done.

Going paperless sounds like it will be wonderful, but my office went paperless a few years ago and there are problems. For example - yesterday the computer system crashed. Before we went paperless, you could always work on the file because you had some paperwork to deal with. If you go totally paperless and your system crashes - you are screwed until it gets fixed.
