Ellen was most likely from a dairy farm that sold her to a live-market auction when she became emaciated. The feedlot she ended up at sells live animals who are slaughtered onsite. Unable to walk and too thin for slaughter, Ellen faced a bullet

Read the story in tears. Because of Ellen, and also it vividly remanded me of every situation when Ií had to make a decision on euthanasia of some of my furry companions and family members. It is so hard. Only comfort is, like written in the article, that I was there & death was peaceful & he/she is now out of pain. But some doubts and the pain stays for ever..

Reading this, I am so thankful for Peta, they got me to go Vegan. Animals suffer so much, but I really believe if anyone has an ounce of compassion in their being they would never eat meat. Unfortunately, as we know from the man y horror stories, like Ellen's and many worse, those that were given even a little time of compassion, many people are cruel and without any feelings. If you find Vegan too hard, at least go vegetarian and slowly, even if it takes years, work to Vegan.

Animal Place that gave Ellen a home is a wonderful sanctuary for farmed animals. Its founder Kim Sturla is an angel. It even has a program where it pays people $ 5 to visit the sanctuary so that it can help people develop compassion for animals and become vegan. The link to its home page is below.
