I'm afraid it is elbow grease - in repeated doses - the only way to get rid of weeds in my experience. Make it fun though - make it a competition, and relish defeating them!

In Australia, we can buy a flame weeder - not a blow torch, but intended just to deal with weeds. They are very effective.

Hm? I just pour boling water on them. It is eco-friendly and kills the roots, too. Plus, you can grow other plants there immediately (after it has cooled down).
