The "Cost" of humankind continuing on its fossil path --or even continuing only roughly in the direction it has been going (growth+techno-fetishism + Mammonism + a culture of (neurosis&)denial/repression)-- can be given quite exactly: It's simply EVERYTHING humans have ever achieved.

And I don't see humankind changing direction. I don't even see them apply the brakes.-- Not a millionth as much as i see homo dodo spinning fantasies, (some oh-so *bright* and *green* and *renewable*) lies and (self-)deception, and further accelerating on our path into oblivion ( and good riddance! )
