Grand Theft Auto V Promotes Violence to Animals ! PLEASE SIGN ! !

Animals  (tags: animals, AnimalWelfare, cruelty, environment, protection, suffering )

Good parents tell their children not to hurt animals. So why has Rockstar Games published a new version of Grand Theft Auto that promotes running over and beheading animals and other acts of pointless cruelty?

This is close to as bad as it gets! Teaching impressionable youth that violence and brutality against animals is not only acceptable, but desirable and rewarding is just plain wrong (and sick)! Please share widely and also tell every parent you know why they should not buy or allow their child(ren) to "play" this horrible "game".

I signed but this is a sad commentary on our society when we have to resort to opposing violence to animals while there is 10 times the amount of violence to humans in this video game, but that violence is protected from such criticism.

You know, you get to the place where you don't know what to say anymore. The evil against animals is so prevalent everywhere you turn that you can't keep up. You sign petitions until the cows come home. You write letters, you do what you can to help animals, yet these rotten animal torturers spring up like weeds in a field. Worst of all, there are not enough astringent laws to protect animals--either that or the law doesn't do what it should. I think lawmakers have this god-forsaken idea that animals are not valuable just because they can't speak for themselves or because they aren't human. They think animals are less than we are. That mentality thinks that way, so they are indifferent about protecting creatures. Look at the fate of farm animals. Look at the dangers elephants, tigers, lions, rhinos, and other animals are in because the lawmakers don't abide by the law. If anything, they ASSIST poachers. Factory farms are prevalent, and the horrors that go on KEEP going on because not one lawmaker will do anything about them. Meanwhile, sadists are having the time of their lives because they don't have to worry about being stopped or fined or jailed or shot. I personally consider that we humans and animals are as one. We come from the same place and only evolved differently according to need. That makes us all on a par, so it is heartbreaking to read about the truly sick sector of humans committing all these atrocities on animals and getting by with it. So the bottom line is, I am getting more and more discouraged. Like so many of you, I try to do my best in extending kindness and compassion,, but the sadistic sector is so overwhelming. I tearfully wonder if the day will ever come when mankind realizes its error and tries to make amends for these innocent victims of human cruelty---whether we learn to see animals differently, valuing them as part of this planet's evolution, itself a miracle? I'm not going to hold my breath, but I can still hope. In a world like this, tThat's just about all there is left to do.

Barbara V. I completely understand. It is always 1 step forward and 5 back. I too spend so much time signing and writing and it just goes on and on and on. It's frustrating and sometimes I just want to call it quits and never look at anything about animal abuse gain; yet we have to do it because we care.

Of course I signed this and every other petition today that will save animals and will do so until I am too old.

When are these "gaming" writers going to admit that all this violence in video games against humans and now animals is increasing the incidence in real life? Why are parents allowing their children to play these games?
Why are children and adults buying these games? When are our lawmakers going to do something about it?
How about making some games where the protagonist does wonderful stuff instead of violent stuff? Duh?

So has anyone here played any of the GTA games or has any intention of playing them in the future? No well the GTA series is made to be over the top violent and controversial. Rockstar happily takes any protests against their games as free advertising because it works very well.

Don't like the game then don't play it, but the vast majority of players have enough brains to tell real from fake and those who don't should be locked up just for being idiots. Now I will be off because I need to kill a bear with a golf club!

OMG! SHUT THIS DOWN NOW! This is reprehensible. It starts with the children. We must come together as a non-violent force for good! We can not wait! I'm urging anyone who wants to be a real non-violent change for animals and ultimately for children to join the team of HANDS AROUND THE WORLD in WHATEVER capacity you can. This is a mammoth task, but it is achievable. Get involved, send me your ideas. This idea was born on CARE2's website. I'd apologize for begging, but the need is too great.

While it sucks, it also means you should ban ALL games. GTA ROCKS, but killing people doesn't bother you? I much prefer animals, but you would also have to ban all hunting and fishing games.
Get real. Be practical. NOT signing, on the grounds of ABSURDITY. Don't do a half-ass job making a petition. If you ban one violent game, you ban the lmt.

What a pity that the game designers are so talentless that they must stoop to cheap, sensationalistic "thrills" like sadistic animal killing, among other atrocities, in the name of "entertainment." Apparently these lunatics think that cruelty and senseless killing are "fun" and feel no responsibility for feeding the despicable subhuman blood lust of some deranged savages. They are teaching by proxy that kindness, empathy and compassion are trivial and undesirable. Really sick. Shame on all involved and extra shame on those mindless idiots who waste money on this barbaric scum and create a demand.

S,S & N. In the petition comments box I wrote:

Please do not promote mindless violence & cruelty to animals in your games! It's unethical & irresponsible.

Because although the games industry has an age ratings system that determines the age range a game is suitable for, at the end of the day they are games, & games are what children play.

Also, I recently read that some parents thought that the age-ratings on the case indicated the difficulty of a game rather than its suitability. Therefore, I believe it is essential for games companies & the media to work together on a new campaign aimed at promoting awareness & educating parents about the age ratings system. This will help parents make more informed choices.

Violent video games - when kid consumed that for a brief period of time, it have somewhere in the head a whole bunch of knowledge of how to hurt someone. It's something like a long term memory. I'm not against children playing video games but not the violent ones. Limiting the time is also important. Kids need to go out instead of sitting in front of a screen whole the time.

Having played GTA V, you are all stupid. The game contains no animal abuse at all. Yes, there are a couple hunting missions. I hardly consider that animal abuse. There is no be heading of animals. There is no animal abuse encouraged or forced Yes, the game allows you to abuse animals, but never does it actually tell you to.

Also, to your point of this teaching our kids the wrong message, let me clear something up for you... THIS GAME IS NOT FOR KIDS. This game is for adults. If you want to be irresponsible and buy your kids games that are for adults, DONT COMPLAIN TO THE DEVELOPER.

Think of this... you are complaining about an adult game having material not suited for children. Don't blame the maker of the game when you can't read a simple label.

in spite of my strong support for animal rights of course, I don't agree with this it is buying into the whole virtual violence promotes physical violence - which I doubt because my brother is the most non-violent person I know. How many of you actually played it? From what I have played, it seems the opposite the character has a pet doggie who he can take on walks and play fetch - the only violence i saw was when accidentally hit a deer by a car - but that's hardly promoting animal cruelty, but showing a sad fact of life that accidents like this occur and how destructive humans are to nature.

If they must boycott games, (and as i say i think it is unnecessary), surely hunting games should be the target instead. Or Pokemon (that's basically glorfied cockfighting)..
