The lion was killed last month near Liberty Canyon, where wildlife advocates have long pushed for a safe crossing tunnel.

There are a lot of places that should have wildlife tunnels. It would save a lot of wildlife, and a lot of cars.

I saw a dead mountain lion on the freeway just 2 days ago. It was such a sad sight, it has been on my mind ever since. Our roads and highways give no consideration for the well-being of wildlife. Poor planning on that count. It could have been so different, the lush magnificence of biodiversity but what we've got is an increasingly barren wasteland.

most creatures will not use a tunnel, over crossings are a better answer with protective 'funnel' fencing to guide then to the crossing.

Thank you! A tunnel in Australia was very effective! We need to have petitions to persuade lawmakers to protect out wildlife.

We need these tunnels/safe passages in SO MANY places....but, alas, they're expensive and we all know how THAT goes!

an interim solution could be to "import" a male.from north of the freeway into the Santa Monica Mountains. (not ideal, but a lot cheaper and quicker than a tunnel...)

I have seen so many wildlife dead on the roads of America that it makes me cry, but we don't just leave them there we stop and give them a proper burial, its the right thing to do.

When highways are designed, it is needed to take into account the areas where wildlife travel seeking food or water and tunnels should be built then. It is atrocious that it costs so much for a tunnel. WE have overpasses, and tunnels on busy National Park roads.
Thank You Cher.
