Most people with a modicum of humanity will be heartbroken in the first 15 minutes of Blackfish, as the story is told of a young orca -soon to be named Tilikum- who is stolen from his family in a shameless act of stratagem in 1983.

Blackfish IS most certainly one of the most heartbreaking films I've ever seen. Could we air it on public television for ALL to see? (Probably not, I'm sure!!)
I would hope it would inform and galvanize people to the animal WELFARE cause.

Blackfish was and may still be available FREE on CNN the past month each weekend. This film highlights how much we do not know about what happens behind the scenes to animals that are held captive for human entertainment. I'm not sure but have heard it is free on You Tube.

When Blackfish premiered on October 18th I quickly posted in my comments it was on CNN now. I also mentioned that I had watched 15 minutes (Exactly at 15 minutes I did not know if I could continue watching) so far and was not sure i would make it through the entire docu -but I did . I am glad i did because it told the "TRUTH". I needed to know all of that and everyone should watch it . IF I can ,anyone can..
Everyone involved in the captivity of orcas with the exception of the greedy business people all had major regrets to this day and were very affected . They were quite emotional.
It is REAL ,the TRUTH and everyone should see it. Pass on what they know so no one ever ever goes to Seaworld or any places that keep orcas /any animal in captivity. none of them ever belong in captivity.

I have commented a few times on this docu of Blackfish.
TY for posting Cher!!!!

BTW there is some new news about Seaworld yesterday in the news and I did not get a chance to read it. I'm wondering what else i missed but I did send it back to me from online.

Excellent article which makes us think not only about the inhumanity of orcas' captivity but in a much broader context about the animals that we don't think about hardly at all- such as chickens, pigs, diary cows and their calves- who are all deprived of all their freedom in factory farms and who lead a "hellish" existence just like the animals that we capture for our own selfish entertainment! Thanks Cher for this very perceptive article!

I've not been able to see Blackfish yet, but, as soon as I'm back home for the Holidays, it'll be done ! My sister has it on her computer and told me it truly is eye-opening & heart-breaking. We were never ones to go to zoos or aquariums in the first place, but, I think this will be sure to keep us away...forever ! Thanks for sharing ! I did the same on my Facebook !
