The EU are planning a ban on free plastic bags across all EU members. Hopefully, over the next few years, we will see a significant reduction in the number of these awful things. Ahead of this some supermarkets in the UK, where I live, are offering incentives to reuse bags, others are charging for plastic carrier bags.

The EU is also considering new legislation with either a total ban or a TAX on each plastic bag.

I must be the only one in the world who either recycles these bags or uses them for my garbage. Haven't bought a garbage bag for years, as living alone I don't need to use the large bags - have to save every penny now days and garbage bags are expensive. So for me,and many seniors here, these bags aren't single use. Yes, I signed.

Ideally I'd support the use of tax as an incentive rather than regulation. But any steps are good to take.
